Sigma Nu earned the highest grade point average among male Greek organizations for the fall semester of 2008 with a grade point average of 2.89. We also have attained the second highest grade point average cumulatively with a 2.81.
In order to maintain our exemplary grades, we have passed bylaws that require new members to earn a 2.3 in order to be initiated. These bylaws have succeeded in being a constant reminder to our candidates that they are here primarily to get an education.
Current actions being taken by Sigma Nu to ensure that our candidates and members get the most out of their academic opportunity include mandatory study halls. It is mandatory that members and candidates spend at least two hours each week in one of our prearranged study halls. These study halls provide members who have the same academic majors to assist, tutor, and compare notes with each other. This is a priceless tool in preparing for tests as well as grasping an advanced understanding of course material.
Members and candidates who fall below the preset minimum grade point average are required to attend the student success center as well as present his midterm grades and test grades to the scholarship chairman who will communicate with professors as well as the member to determine what the his weakness is and strive to correct the problem.
Sigma Nu Fraternity offers GreekLife Edu as a tool to help assist our members in becoming better educated about alcohol, hazing, and sexual assault.
